PARTTRACKS OMR / GUIDED SHEET MUSIC CONVERSION

FROM SOURCE TO DELIVERY

A complete conversion.
With review of the content.

Optical Music Recognition (OMR) turns music on a page into digital notation. Parttracks OMR adds assisted review so that you can assess the result and continue editing.

THREE COMPONENTS

What you receive

Delivery centres on the complete score. You receive editable music and the information needed to check it. The source remains the reference.

XML

1. The complete score in MusicXML 4.0

A file containing notation for all parts within the agreed scope. MusicXML transfers the musical content to your notation software, where you can arrange, transpose and adjust the layout.

The layout after import may differ from the original page. Reproducing the page layout exactly is not the goal of this conversion.

PDF

2. A review PDF

A readable rendering of the converted notation. Compare the result with the source even before opening the MusicXML file in your own software.

The review PDF has its own pagination. The number of output pages does not determine the pilot page estimate.

CHECK

3. A summary of review points

We identify unclear source markings, remaining uncertainties and relevant checks. Where possible, we refer to the voice or bar concerned to help you review efficiently.

An uncertain reading is not silently presented as musically correct.

IS YOUR SCORE SUITABLE?

We start with choral and piano music.

The first pilot builds on our existing practical trials: printed choral music with or without piano accompaniment, and piano music. We assess each source individually before accepting a project.

Suitable for discussion

  • Digital sheet music PDFs
  • Legible scans of printed music
  • Unaccompanied choir or choir with piano
  • Piano scores

Needs further assessment

  • Blurred, skewed or cropped scans
  • Handwriting and historical printing
  • Complex or other scorings
  • Missing or hard-to-read pages

A clear file with complete pages, sufficient contrast and visible staves helps the assessment. If a source is beyond our current capabilities, we discuss this in advance.

THE PROCESS

Four steps, with agreements in advance.

  1. 01

    Send your score

Send your PDF through the form and tell us the instrumentation, number of music pages, notation software and what you want to do with the score. ‘Convert your score’ sends your enquiry directly to us.

  2. 02

    Source review and proposal

We assess legibility, length and complexity. We then confirm scope, price including VAT, delivery time and required import checks. You decide whether to proceed.

  3. 03

    Approval, payment and conversion

After your approval and payment under the proposal, the notation is recognised and reviewed against the source. We consider voices, rhythm, lyrics and performance directions as well as individual notes. Changes remain traceable and uncertainties are recorded.

  4. 04

    Delivery and practical feedback

You receive MusicXML, a review PDF and review notes. Open the score in the agreed software and report any issues with a bar or page reference. Follow-up is handled under the agreed terms.

EXCHANGE FORMAT

Continue in your own notation software

The pilot delivers MusicXML 4.0. Our own trials confirm import into Sibelius. If you use Dorico, MuseScore or other software, please provide the version too: we agree the required import checks in advance.

Programs can lay out the same notation differently or render certain marks in different ways. A technically valid file is therefore not the only criterion. Usability after import is part of the assessment.

What is outside the first pilot?

A complete sheet music reader, audio production, individual part export, MIDI delivery and automatic practice material generation are not included in the standard package. The delivered score can support your own further work.

Discuss what your score needs.

We review the source first and then agree a specific scope.
